Since we don't know if the baby will be a boy or a girl (and we don't intend to find out until he or she is born) I decided to knit with a neutral-coloured yarn, and I found some cheap stuff when we were out at the store the other day that I thought would be perfect. Unfortunatetly it was cheap for a reason and parts of the yarn were not very well-spun (either too thick or stretched very thin), which made it look as though there were holes in the finished product. I won't complain too much. For the cost of the yarn and the length of time the baby will wear it, I'm pretty satisfied. I plan on having it as the first (or at least one of the first) hats that s/he will wear after s/he is born, and it's probably going to get dirty right away, so it doesn't really matter that it's not perfect.
Pattern: Bernat Preemie Baby Hat (though because I used slightly thicker yarn, it is be bigger than the size they said it would be)
Yarn: No-name yellow sport-weight yarn
Needles: 4mm
Time it took to finish: 3 weeks (though it went rather fast when I actually had time to knit. I can't work much during the day due to a very inquisitive 14-month-old!)

Je viens de terminer mon premier projet tricot : un bonnet pour bébé. Je suis assez contente de le terminer, et même qu'il n'est pas parfait, j'en suis satisfaite.
Puisque nous ne savons pas si le bébé sera un garçon ou une fille (et nous ne souhaitent pas savoir jusqu'à sa naissance) j'ai décidé de tricoter avec une laine de couleur neutre, et j'ai trouvé une laine bon marché quand nous faisions les courses il n'y a pas très longtemps. Malheureusement, la laine était peu chère pour une bonne raison et en certains endroits elle n'était pas très bien tissée (trop épais ou très mince), qui fait paraître des 'trous' dans le bonnet. Mais je ne me plaindrai trop. Pour le coût et la durée limitée que le bébé va le porter, je suis assez satisfaite. J'ai l'intention de faire de ce bonnet le premier (ou au moins un des premiers) qu'il/elle portera après la naissance, et il va probablement se salir tout de suite, donc pas de soucis si il n'est pas parfait.
