This blanket has been finished for ages (since the beginning of November!) but I have been unable to find the time to write about it until now.
This was one of the first patterns I found when I was looking for things to knit, and since I wasn't at all confident in my knitting skills when I first started, I wanted to try something as simple as possible. I fell in love with the yarn and the pattern is simple stockinette stitch for about a meter square (though I ended up doing more of a rectangular blanket out of preference). Though I loved the way the yarn knit up and enjoyed being able to knit mindlessly before the baby was born, I found it harder and harder to find time to work on it, probably because it ended up feeling so monotonous. I also took a 4-month break in the middle of knitting it (which explains the 7 months it took to finish this one) because I realized that I was so tired when the baby was waking up several times a night that I would often forget what I was doing and start knitting instead of purling, or vice versa! Fortunately the yarn hides any minor mistakes, so I didn't have to frog the project and start over.
I didn't end up doing a hood, like the pattern called for, and as I said, made it more like a rectangle than a square. My daughter adores it - it has become her nap blanket - and I love how snuggly it is. And I'm glad I finished it when I did. Any earlier, and it would have been finished, but she wouldn't have been able to have it in bed - it is a very warm blanket, and with the temperatures we had this fall, it would have been uncomfortable! All in all, I'm happy with how it turned out, but I am definitely never doing something this big in stockinette again!

J'ai terminé cette couverture depuis très longtemps (depuis début novembre!) mais j'ai eu du mal à trouver un moment de libre pour écrire à ce sujet.
Ce fut l'un des premiers patrons que j'ai trouvé quand je cherchais une couverture à tricoter, et comme je n'avais pas confiance en mes compétences, je voulais essayer un patron assez simple pour débuter. J'ai eu le coup de foudre pour ce fil, et le modèle est environ un mètre carré au point jersey (mais j'ai fini par faire une couverture rectangulaire). Bien que j'aime tricoter avec ce fil et que j'étais contente de pouvoir tricoter sans trop y penser avant l'arrivée du bébé, il est devenu de plus en plus difficile à trouver le temps de m'y mettre, sans doute à cause de la monotonie du patron. J'ai aussi pris une pause de 4 mois (ce qui explique les sept mois qu'il m'a fallu pour la terminer) à cause de la fatigue - quand la petite se réveillait plusieurs fois par nuit j'ai eu du mal à me concentrer quand je tricotait, et souvent j'oubliais où j'étais et je commençais à faire le point mousse! Heureusement, le fil cache les petits erreurs, donc je n'ai pas eu besoin de tout recommencer.
En fin de compte, je n'ai pas fait la capuche comme dans le patron, et, comme j'ai déjà expliqué, j'ai fait une couverture en rectangle plutôt qu'un carré. Ma fille l'adore - c'est sa couverture pour la sieste - et j'aime la douceur du produit final. Je suis aussi contente de l'avoir fini début novembre. Plus tôt et je n'aurais pas pu la mettre dans son lit - c'est une couverture très chaude, et avec les températures que nous avons eues cet automne, ma fille aurait été très mal à l'aise! Dans l'ensemble, je suis satisfaite, mais je ne vais jamais refaire un élément si grand en point jersey!
