Knitting: Mug cozy / Tricot: Tour de Tasse

I had extra yarn after making my dishcloth, so I decided to make a matching mug cozy. The pattern is very similar to Grandmother's Favourite Dishcloth that I made a little while ago. It definitely looks much better on the mug than it does flat. I like the colours - very tea/coffee appropriate, and should hide stains well. A bit small for a larger mug but fits around my standard-sized ones well. I would definitely make it bigger next time.

J'avais du fil supplémentaire après avoir fait mon torchon, alors j'ai décidé de faire un tour de tasse. Le patron est très similaire à Grandmother's Favourite Dishcloth que j'ai fait il y a quelque temps. Il a l'air un peu bizarre à plat et paraît mieux sur la tasse. J'aime les couleurs - très appropriée pour le thé / le café et devrait bien cacher d’éventuelles taches. Un peu petite pour une grande tasse mais va assez bien sur une tasse de taille standard. La prochaine fois j'aimerais le faire en plus grand.

Knitting: Waffle-Knit Dishcloth / Tricot: Torchon Gaufré

This was a quick project for my Belgian friend. I know of a few dishcloth patterns that are friendly on pans but brutal on whatever you cook in them, and thought this would make a nice gift. I hadn't tried this particular pattern before but I loved the look of it and wanted to give it a try.


I am very happy with how this turned out. The Tobago yarn is perfect for this pattern (though a bit thicker than some of the others I had used and therefore gave a slightly bigger cloth) and the finished product is exactly what I expected. Great pattern!

Il s'agit d'un projet rapide pour mon amie belge. Je connais quelques patrons pour torchon qui sont doux sur le revêtement de casseroles mais brutal sur la graisse etc., et j'ai pensé que cela ferait un beau cadeau. Je n'avais pas tricoté ce modèle auparavant, mais j'ai aimé le look de celui-ci et a voulu le tester.

Je suis très heureuse de ce torchon. Le fil Tobago est parfait pour ce patron (mais un peu plus épais que les autres que j'avais utilisés et donc donne un torchon légèrement plus grand) et le produit final est exactement ce à quoi je m'attendais. Super patron !

Knitting: Baby hat in Round / Tricot: Bonnet en Rond

I decided to learn a new way of knitting in the round and try it out with the cheap yarn I used to make the baby hat, my first project. I thought it would be nice to try out the same pattern, so I made version two of the same hat, though I knit every row instead of knitting and purling alternately.

At first, using double-pointed needles (DPNs) felt really awkward, and I had a hard time until I figured out the most comfortable way for me to knit. Once I was comfortable, it went very quickly, and before I knew it, I was done. The had knit in the round looks much better than the original, and I am much happier having knit it without having to sew a seam. I didn't knit it as big as the first one either, but it should still fit on the baby's head, even if it's only for a short time.

J'ai décidé d'apprendre une nouvelle façon de tricoter en rond et l'essayer avec le fil pas cher que j'ai utilisé pour refaire le bonnet que j'avais fait comme premier projet. J'ai pensé que ce serait bien d'essayer le même patron, alors j'ai fait une deuxième version du même bonnet, même si j'ai tricoté à l'endroit en rond et pas en alternant à l'endroit et à l'envers, comme était précisé dans le modèle.

Au début, je me sentais maladroite avec les aiguilles double pointe, et j'ai galéré jusqu'à ce que je trouve le meilleur façon de tenir les aiguilles. Une fois que j'étais à l'aise, tout est allé très vite, et j'ai terminé plus vite que je ne le pensais. Le bonnet tricoté en rond est beaucoup mieux que l'original, et je suis beaucoup plus satisfaite après avoir tricoté sans avoir à faire une couture. Je ne l'ai pas tricoté aussi grand que le premier bonnet, mais il devrait aller sur la tête du bébé, même si c'est seulement pendant une courte période.

Otherwise, I found more embellishments for the wedding scrapbook and have taken advantage of my husband's 2 weeks of holidays to do chores around the house, so even though I haven't been super crafty, I have at least been able to cross a few things off the list.

Sinon, j'ai acheté des embellissements pour l'album de mariage et j'ai profité des deux semaines de vacances de mon mari pour faire diverses tâches autour de la maison, donc même si je n'ai pas fait beaucoup de loisirs créatifs ses dernières semaines, j'ai pu au moins rayer des tâches de ma liste.
